Senior IT Architect - Web Portals

Great-West Healthcare Information Services is looking for an experienced Web Portal architect to join immediately.  This is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to lead the architecture and development of multiple highly robust, scalable, and high performance Web Portals for our customers, providers, and employers.  The candidate will work closely with both the server side teams, application development teams, project managers, and systems analysts and will be actively involved in the planning, specification and implementation of our Web Portals.  This is a highly visible position for an individual that can apply hardware engineering and software design theories and principles ins researching, designing, and developing product hardware and software interfaces.  The individual selected will be a seasoned professional with a full understanding of Web Portals and can resolve a wide array of issues in creative ways.


The Senior IT Architect will work closely with the applications teams, systems analysis teams, project management teams, and business teams to architect Web portal Solutions that will meet the business objectives of interfacing with our customers (Members, Providers, and Employers) with fully robust, scalable, and high performing solutions.

The responsibilities will include the following:
- Demonstrated track record of full lifecycle development of multi-tiered Web Portal applications including developing, delivering and supporting our mission critical Web Portals.
- Willingness to follow existing development methodologies and to assist management teams and process teams with improving existing methodologies.
- Demonstrable end-user interface design and development skills and an understanding of user centric interface design principles in a multi-tiered, multi-server environment.
- Ability to quickly master new technologies and "push the envelope" for performance, reliability, scalability, and usability.
- Object Oriented Design and Object Oriented programming skills using design patterns and pattern factories where and when appropriate.
- Strong Analytical problem solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and with collaborative teams to bring Web Portal solutions from development to production.
- Proven ability to design modular reusable solutions that are reliable and scalable.
- Desire and ability to follow existing standards for development and design and to work with management teams to suggest improvements to standards and process.
- Must be willing and able to work under pressure.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be willing and able to explain designs and architectures to persons at all levels in the organization.
- At least 5 years of experience of extensive Web Portal technologies using HTML, JavaScript, .NET Framework, C#, Web Services, SOA, AJAX, XML, SOAP, dynamic data driven pages, Microsoft reporting services using Oracle.
