Senior Instructional Designer:
The Senior Instructional Designer works in concert with the performance consultant to plan, analyze, design, develop, deploy, and evaluate learning materials. As a senior member of the instructional design staff, the Senior Instructional Designer acts as a key contributor in medium to large-scale development projects in a complex environment. A Senior Instructional Designer may also lead teams or projects and is responsible for sharing knowledge and mentoring others. A Senior Instructional Designer collaborates with internal resources as needed, to produce on-target learning programs. Additional duties:Translate subject matter expertise into instructional content, by writing textual descriptions, creating or planning for the creation of appropriate illustrations, and developing innovative ways to impart complex concepts to various audiences, through effectively leveraging media. Accomplished by:Authoring narrativesCapturing screen shotsCreating storyboards, etc.Support Clinical Technologies & Services (CTS) performance consultants in conducting training needs assessment and audience analysis for products and processes, collaborates with CTS learning development and delivery team members to refine curriculum and develop course contentDevelop knowledge of multiple CTS products and audiences to enable the application of expert judgment to the production of content. Interface with appropriate groups to stay abreast of changes to products or processes. This includes but is not limited to field install and support, field service, technical support center and product marketing. Share expertise with other Learning Services associatesParticipate in quality assurance (QA) of course material as part of a team in CTS Learning Services; participate in the review and subsequent updates of courseware based on diverse feedback sources, taking into account Kirkpatrick’s 4 levels of evaluation, the target audience, and evolving requirementsTo stay current, proactively seeks information on industry and learning best practices. Shares knowledge with other Learning Services associatesDemonstrates advanced knowledge of adult learning theories and concepts; instructional design theory and methods, various instructional methods and delivery options; measurement and evaluation theory and methods, various software tools used in instructional design and training vendors and resourcesCollaborates to perform large, complex needs assessments and audience analysis projects requiring multiple data sources and analysis methodsIncorporates data into course design for complex courses and curriculaBA in Instructional Design or related field, or equivalent with experience in curriculum development, learning methodologies, training needs analysis and philosophies, training delivery best practices, and/or related certification.Minimum of 8 years of creating courseware for adult learning for technical product audiences; conducted medium to large-scale needs assessments and audience analysis projects requiring multiple data sources; produced and delivered training content and materials for instructor led, web based, and media driven delivery mechanisms; experience in an FDA regulated business desired.Possess the written, verbal and group communication skills to navigate the organization, and identify where and how information can be locatedExperience in participating in complex problem solving activitiesDemonstrated knowledge of adult learning and course development methodologies (Mager, Informational Mapping, the ADDIE process) and training delivery best practicesProficiency in applying Kirkpatrick’s four levels of evaluation and acting on the resultsProficiency in MS Office toolsDesirable experience: Lectora, Captivate, Articulate, Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, or similar tools
