Job Description: Your future is bright at CareFirst. CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, the largest health care insurer in the Mid-Atlantic region has an opening for a Senior Systems Engineer.  Every day, we help people make decisions that will positively impact their lives today and into the future.  If your passion is in IT, you can take your experience to the next level in a company that is financially strong and nationally respected as a Senior Systems Engineer at our Columbia, MD Data Center. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for the installation and administration of IBM WebSphere Network Deployment across all CareFirst and FEPOC platforms. Responsibilities: Determines presence and scope of system problems and suggests and implements potential solutions Monitors performance of WebSphere infrastructure and resolves operational failures in accordance with corporate guidelines Performs routine and emergency deployments of WebSphere applications and assists developers with capacity and performance testing Develops and implements procedures for backup and recovery, automation and standardization of WebSphere systems and related applications Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and 2-3 years of WebSphere Network Deployment Administration using versions 5 or 6.x. Must have experience using AIX 5.x and Windows operating systems Strong problem resolution skills and ability to perform project management tasks for departmental WebSphere project are essential Experience with WebSphere Portal, MQSeries, TIBCO, LDAP, JACL, JYTHON, DB2/ORACLE/SYBASE database management software, JAVA development, e-commerce and/or client-server development is preferred  Individuals must demonstrate initiative; work well independently and as a contributing member of a team; and demonstrate strong communication, written and presentation skills.
