Shift Supervisor of Community Residences
South Bronx Mental Health Council, Inc., has two newly created full-time positions to supervise its community residences on the 4:00PM to midnight and the midnight to 8:00AM shifts.
We have three community residences with 104 beds. Our residents are adult ambulatory patients who attend clinical programs, work training, jobs, etc., during week days. Each of our residences has a full-time day-shift assistant director and dedicated staff of counselors, clericals and porters who cover 24/7. There are also two scattered-site apartment programs. The programs report to a full-time Director of Community Residences.
The Council is a free-standing mental health care provider serving the community since 1981. We have six clinical programs in addition to our residential services. The clinical programs provide therapeutic services to most of our residents. There is close cooperation between clinical and residentail programs.
The shift supervisor position will report to the Director of Community Residences. Each will coordinate staffing issues, provide training to scheduled staff members and improve quality improvement programs including staff performance issues. Each supervisor will have supervisory responsibility for all locations during the shift. The programs are located within two miles of each other. Travel between program sites can be by taxi/car service or by private car; reimbursement will be provided.
These are non-union, exempt positions. Excellent fringe benefits include 20 days vacation, 12 sick days, 15 holidays and 4 heat days. Family health insurance includes spouse and children to age 21 with a $25 co-pay. Dental insurance includes spouse and children and reimburses to $1,500 annually for each individual. Long-term disability with payments to age 65 is included. The Council pays the entire cost of these insurance programs - there is no deduction from an employee's pay check.
The Council pays the entire cost of pension, 6% a year, with no match from employees.
Salary is dependent upon experience and education. Familiarity with New York State and city regulations regarding community residenes for the mental ill is required. A relevant college degree and a minimum of three years' experience working in a community residence is also required.
