Site Compliance Officer-Community Hospitals
Advocate Health Care is currently seeking a full-time Site Compliance Officer at our Oak Brook location. Advocate Health Care is committed to strict compliance with the law at each of its hospitals and other sites of care. This position contribute to the fulfillment of Advocate's mission, values and philosophy (MVP) by serving as the on-site compliance officers and overseeing the Business Conduct (Compliance) Program. This includes ensuring compliance with local, state and federal government program requirements, laws, regulations, policies and procedures relating to documentation, coding, billing, quality, fraud and abuse, protection of privacy and confidentiality of protected health information (HIPAA), conflicts of interest, human resource policies and all other laws and regulatory requirements relating to Advocate's Code of Business Conduct and health care operations. The SCO positions promote an awareness, understanding and culture of positive ethical and moral principals. Qualifications: Previous experience as a hospital compliance officer or a chief compliance officer for a health care system. Comprehensive knowledge of laws, policies, procedures, and practices regarding health care regulatory compliance issues. Comprehensive knowledge of the organization and functions of a health care facility and areas susceptible to mismanagement, fraud, waste, abuse; thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of administration and operations. Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid/Stark programs and state insurance laws as well as issues relating to professional fee billing and facility documentation and coding and billing requirements. Strong writing skills, medical terminology and ability to analyze rules and assist in drafting policies and procedures relating to compliance. Ability to monitor and conduct analyses of hospital operating procedures. Ability to identify issues, problems and critical factors, and develop methods for corrective action. Ability to formulate, develop and implement monitoring, auditing and investigative standards, and policies and procedures. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior hospital management, physicians, hospital managers, and other health care professionals, in order to promote compliance with applicable policies, procedures, plans, laws and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to provide education and training and consultation to a wide variety of health care professionals. Ability to organize, assemble, categorize and prepare data for reporting purposes. Maintains a high degree of credibility, independence, integrity and confidentiality and trust. Sound professional judgment; dependability; resourcefulness, accuracy. High degree of initiative; tact; and discretion. Hospital Physician Group Administration, Business Administration, Health Information Management, Quality, Nursing, Audit and/or Law background.
