Software Engineer

Location: Spokane, WA; Main Lab

Hours: Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM

RESPONSIBILITIES This position requires software project specification design, coding, testing, deployment and maintenance. Participate in the software design process including creation of design requirements documents, detailed functional specifications, test plans and acceptance criteria documents and other artifacts. Work with a project team. Exercise sound software engineering judgment, involving value and relative importance of features or issues, risks and priorities of current tasks, estimates of work and time to deliver a specific task, etc. on day to day activities and be able to communicate changes, issues, concerns in an effective and timely manner. Operate under the direction of team members with more experience. Exhibit basic knowledge of working in small team environments on medium to large scale projects from inception to release. Must demonstrate sound software engineering skills and practices for the delivery of quality software on-time and on-budget. Will participate in assigned aspects of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis and prototyping, high-level design, detailed functional and design specifications, software implementation, testing, and maintenance of existing software at the direction of the group leader. Projects require a highly motivated, dynamic individual, willing to work successfully in a challenging environment

REQUIREMENTSFour year software development related degree. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. A proven track record of successful software product development, and knowledge of project management methodologies. Experience in Object-Oriented programming and design, Java preferred. Strong understanding of Object-Oriented concepts. Strong debugging skills and techniques.


Preferred Job Skills: Two to four years relevant experience in software development. Java, Java EE, Java Message Service (JMS) Hibernate, Maven Experience with an RDBMS and basic SQL skills. Subversion or other source management tools. JUnit or other unit testing frameworks. Experience working in Unix, or Linux environments Familiar with the HL7 messaging standard
