Location: Evanston, Illinois.Project Description The CareDiscovery product, launched in December 2006, is a critical and valuable component for improving the quality of healthcare in the United States. Created using the latest reporting, web delivery and date integration tools and technologies, CareDiscovery provides reporting insight to hospitals and health care facilities into potential areas of performance improvement. Now approaching its third major release in the past two years, CareDiscovery continues to provide information with even greater depth and value – information that can help reduce a patient’s hospital stay, prevent harmful complications, and ultimately, save lives. As a lead member of the CareDiscovery team, your ideas, insight and enthusiasm will directly impact the next release of the product. By joining the CareDiscovery team, you will not only be a part of an exciting and challenging project, but you will be directly improving healthcare in the United States!Responsibilities Perform hands on development and coding of application components using Java/J2EE, WebSphere Portal, Oracle, AJAX, Hibernate and Cognos. Adhere to product engineering methodology while working collaboratively with a variety of product teams (data integration, quality assurance, configuration management, product management). Perform detailed documentation of design, development, testing and deployment activities necessary to ensure team knowledge sharing. Transform business requirements into comprehensive solutions using the appropriate methods, tools and technologies.Requirements Outstanding communication skills (oral, written and presentation) and strong interpersonal skills.Must be driven and eager, with an ability and willingness to learn and implement new technologies and software development techniques. 2-4 years of practical experience building web applications using Java/J2EE technologies, including JSP, Servlets, JDBC, EJB, JMS and web services. Experience developing with the IBM WebSphere family of products, specifically WebSphere Portal, is a strong plus. Experience with SQL and relational databases, particularly Oracle and SQL Server. Excellent knowledge of web client-side technologies (HTML, XML, DHTML/Javascript, CSS). Experience with Java development tools including Struts, log4j, Ant and JUnit. Experience with software design methodologies including RUP, UML and OOA/D. Experience with UNIX is a plus. Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, support). Experience with business intelligence tools such as Cognos or BusinessObjects a plus. Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
