Sr. Instructional Designer

 

This position is responsible for the following:

 

• Building the conceptual design, guiding the team to execute the design and is responsible for the overall design integrity of the learning asset.

 

• Provides day to day direction of multiple complex training development programs – specifically large scale, visible, and strategic with work effort over 300 hours.

 

• Ensuring projects are executed according to Corporate Learning’s process, quality, budget and milestone standards.

 

• Tracking and reporting progress to ensure completion according to business area’s schedule, within budget for a cross functional organizational team of subject matter experts, instructional designers, analysts, and developers.

 

• Completing design leadership and coaching responsibilities by creating recommendations for course design based on preliminary or conceptual design information.

 

• Demonstrating a strong business awareness of the insurance environment and the ability to provide leadership to complex programs and strategies to implement them

 

• Project manager skills are required and the ability to lead across all areas of the corporation is essential. Managing team resources is critical.

 

• Promoting a culture of performance excellence departmentally, throughout HRAS and Corporately by:

 

• enhancing job skills through quality process improvement and tools training / certification

 

• participating in process and operational improvement initiatives

 

• building and maintaining effective relationships throughout organization to advance Performance Excellence 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Multi-media Education, or Training & Development with an emphasis on Instructional Design.

 

• 5 years instructional design experience

 

• 5 years developing performance solutions

 

• 3 years in leading teams or projects 

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• 7 years instructional design experience

 

• 7 years in developing performance solutions

 

• 5 years in leading teams

 

• 5 years in leading projects

 

• Knowledge of advanced instructional design techniques, classroom, virtual and web-based development tools

 

• Strong written communication skills and instructional design of materials: attention to detail to ensure quality

 

• Advanced oral communication skills – ability to facilitate customer’s SME’s and sponsor discussions to set expectations and ensure appropriate involvement

 

• Must be skilled in several instructional approaches (web-based, instructor-led, or virtual)

 

• Ability to plan and estimate tasks, use of project management tools including project portfolio management and capacity planning

 

• Vendor or academic certifications in Design and Development

 

• Vendor or academic certifications in development tools (FLASH, Dreamweaver, etc.)
