Sr. Oracle DBA

Senior Oracle DBA (Support position ... NOT ... Development position)

 

Group Summary: Responsible for planning, coordinating and administering computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.

 

Scope: Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems.

 

Business Experience: 6+ years experience in database administration Education: 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience To make this more Client specific:

 

1. Needs to understand Support and its customer service functions ... must have a desire to serve

2. Needs to have working knowledge of 10g, RAC and RMAN ... must have a desire to learn and develop

3. No true Development work, only Support 4. 24x7 support, rotating pager system 5. Needs to understand the importance of "team concepts and team work"

6. Needs to speak clearly with customers via the phone ... and have a passion to resolve customer problems

7. Needs to be able to work in stressful situations as we work with Hospitals – a down system could mean a patient death
