Sr Project Manager

Location: Chicago, ILRelocation Provided: NoEducation Required: Not IndicatedExperience Required: Not IndicatedPosition Description:BASIC FUNCTION: Enterprise PMO. This position is responsible for leading large complex projects or a program with a number of sub-projects (in effect, running a program management office); ensuring the project scope is aligned with the stated business objectives; setting and managing customer expectations, managing and escalating issues and changes; developing and maintaining relationships with project stakeholders to obtain project objectives while working in a matrix project environment; thorough understanding of systems development lifecycles.JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1) Bachelor Degree with Project Management Professional (PMP)/certification and 4 years project management experience OR Bachelor Degree and 6 years project management experience OR 10 years project management experience. Comprehensive understanding of Project Management lifecycles and methodologies; 2)Thorough understanding of systems development lifecycles; 3)Work collaboratively with IT and Business representatives to develop a comprehensive project/program plan based on approved funding. Project/Program plans will include: Scope, Schedule, Cost, Quality, Organization and Communication, Staffing, Risk and Issue Management. Obtain commitment to the plan; 4)Effectively manage project/program work within the stated scope. Implement and manage Scope Change Control processes and update program plans based on approved changes; 5)In conjunction with IT Team Leads, lead the development of the work breakdown structure and creation of the detailed project/program schedule. Understand the dependencies and inter-relationships of the tasks and deliverables; 6)Monitor actual project hours and costs against the project/program estimates and budget. Report significant variances and develop corrective action plans.; 7) In conjunction with IT and Business Leads, implement a project/program organization and communication plan which enables the project team to effectively work together to meet project objectives. Supervise the activities of project management consultants; 8)Communicate effectively with staff and management on status, issues, risks, project goals and objectives. Schedule and lead project/program team meetings and steering committee meetings as required, including preparation of meeting agendas and meeting minutes; 9)Write and distribute fact based Project/Program Status and Project/Program Progress reports to management. Effectively summarize complex items to be more easily understood. Assess and quantify project risks and document mitigation and contingency plans; 10)Understand and help refine project management standards and guidelines developed by the EPMO; 11)Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity and Compliance Program policies; 12)Maintain complete confidentiality of company related business; 13)Maintain effective communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsbilities and perform special projects as required or requested; 14) Demonstrated leadership and adaptability when facing unique challenges encountered on each project; 15)Effective facilitation skills focusing participants on meeting’s purpose and outlined agenda topics.PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1)Health Care or Insurance Industry experience; 2)Master's Degree and/or 8 years IT project/program experience.Relocation will not be paid by HCSC.External applicants will also be considered..
