Sr. Research Assistant

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is a world renowned organization dedicated to the progressive control and cure of cancer through programs of patient care, research, and education.

The Monoclonal Antibody Core Facility (MACF) is seeking a self-motivated Ph.D. to manage and drive a major service offered by the facility, specifically the generation of New Monoclonal Antibodies. In this position you are expected to know the status and details of all active new MAb projects, keep the facility head up to date on the projects,, understand MACF recommended techniques/approaches, guide those ordering various sub-services through the process, constantly re-evaluate the service and suggest ways to improve it. From the technical side, you will immunize and bleed rodents in accordance with the protocol approved by Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, generate hybridomas from rodent splenocytes, maintain thousands of fresh hybridomas during the screening process, perform ELISAs, clone/subclone hybridomas, maintain complete/detailed records and ensure rendered services are billed.

Either a BS + 10 years of wet bench experience, MS + 7 years of wet bench experience, or a PhD in biomedical research + 4 years of wet bench experience.

Qualified candidates will have significant experience in cell culture, be able to multi-task, be detail oriented and be able to trouble shoot experiments as well as work flow. Excellent communication and organizational skills are also essential in this position. Experience working with animals, producing and/or purifying recombinant proteins and with antibody-based techniques (i.e. FACS, WB, IP, IF, IHC, ELISA, etc.) is a plus. Hours: 9; 00AM-5:00PM, Monday-Friday (plus a few hours one Saturday every a month).
