SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION The Senior Systems Analyst designs, develops and implements automated data extraction processes; working with business users to develop business requirement specifications, with data warehouse developers to ensure availability of data as well as developing and implementing data extraction processes.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS • Developing on-line survey delivery system. • Interview, train and mentor team members. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues as necessary. • Coordinate projects between teams, acting as project manager. • Research and present issues as required. • Manage small projects, present results and meet deadlines, working collaboratively on multiple projects with multiple teams. • Analyze user data needs, determine how needs can be resolved through an automated, repeatable process. • Conceptualize and develop quality report/data extraction processes based on business requirements (test results to ensure quality, system design, data modeling, process documentation, and programming). • Prepare business requirements documentation to accurately depict user needs, with complimentary technical requirements as necessary. • Use industry standard reporting tools to deliver results. • Review system capabilities, workflow and scheduling limitations to determine if requested programs or changes are possible within the existing system.  • Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements. • Coordinate and act as liaison with IT team and customer. • Strong commitment to quality customer service and end product. • Maintains the confidentiality of information processed and proprietary nature of software/database. • Other job duties as assigned.HIRING QUALIFICATIONSCAPABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE (CAN DO) • Ability to multi-task- Manages multiple tasks at one time; quickly and accurately shifts attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.  • Communication skills - Reads, writes and speaks fluent English, using appropriate grammar, style and vocabulary.  Correctly spells commonly used English words and job specific terms.  Strong communication skills (both written and verbally) with coworkers and customers to discuss requirements and operational considerations. • Organizational ability – Demonstrates a systematic approach in carrying out assignments.  Is very orderly and excels at cutting through confusion and turning chaos into order.  • Problem solving skills - Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.  Unusually decisive in handling difficult problems. Translates problems into practical solutions. • Client service skills - Consistently ensures the team provides the client with attentive, courteous and informative service.  Gains and shows personal satisfaction from delivering great service. • Intellectual ability - Accurately and consistently follows instructions delivered in an oral, written or diagram format.  Can provide directions. • Mathematical ability - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and to compute rate, ratio and percent; ability to convert units of measurement.  Analytical skill for understanding business needs. • Computer skills - Comfortably and confidently uses a computer and specialized software.  Expert knowledge of MS Access and Excel.  Expertise working as a systems analyst, data analyst.  Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle), and reporting mediums (Crystal Reports, Business Objects, SQL, PL/SQL, Access, Excel, VBA).ATTITUDES (WILL DO) • Initiative – shows willingness and aptitude to use own discretion in taking appropriate steps in finding solutions to problems; presents options and ideas to enhance current processes or procedures.  Takes on additional responsibility when both big and small tasks need to be done. • Integrity – Firmly adheres to the values and ethics of Banfield, The Pet Hospital.  Exhibits honesty, discretion, and sound judgment. • Cooperativeness – Willing to work with others, collaborating and compromising where necessary; promptly share relevant information with others.  Must show respect for the opinions of others and behave in such a way as to maintain positive working relationships. • Flexibility – Is open to changing situations and opportunities within their region and is willing to perform all tasks assigned.  Must be sufficiently adaptable to accept and perform in a timely and effective manner work assignments that are outside the normal (day-to-day) routine • Independence – Able and willing to perform tasks and duties without constant supervision. • Tolerance for Stress / Resiliency – Maintains a positive “can do” outlook, rebounds quickly from frustrations and unpleasantness, and maintains composure and friendly demeanor while dealing with stressful situations. SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.  • Project timelines and work volume / deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job. • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently. • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate. • Environment where Pets are present. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. • Knowledge of: how to practice requirements engineering according to several software development life cycles in a team environment requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification, and management practices and the ability to apply them preferred. • Five years relevant professional experience required with strong understanding of cycle of service, reporting requirements, P&L Structures.     Company: Banfield, The Pet HospitalLocation: Portland, OR 97213Salary: Competitive Job Category: Business/Strategic ManagementStatus: Full Time, Employee
