Staff Accountant II

Sutter Medical Foundation is a not-for-profit organization supporting the quality medical services provided by Sutter Independent Physicians, Sutter Medical Group, Sutter Neuroscience Medical Group and Sutter West Medical Group. Serving the counties of Sacramento, Placer, Nevada, Amador and Yolo, Sutter Medical Foundation physicians are dedicated to providing exceptional services, listening to the patients’ needs and ensuring that patients play an important role in their health care.Participates in maintaining the Medical Foundation general ledger in order to prepare and present the monthly financial statements.  Researches and reconciles the asset and liability accounts, prepares journal entries and works with outside banks and Treasury to resolve all banking issues.  Incumbent is responsible for fixed assets, check & ACH deposits by Finance and revenue/contractuals for the clinicians. Care center deposits and ensures that policies and procedures are followed by all departments. Responsible for Intercompany transactions, quarterly Sutter Health reporting and preparation in Internal Audit schedules and prep pack documentation.  Works with the property management company to obtain reports relating to SMF’s owned property and with Treasury to obtain bond statements.  Also involved with obtaining contracts relating to clinician directorship and sub-lease revenue.  Incumbent is able to identify sources of problems, and work independently with appropriate support departments and staff to resolve.  Participates in policy and procedure development for improved efficiency and accuracy. · Education: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance or equivalent combination of education and industry experience. · Experience:Direct experience in general accounting, equivalent to two years in a position sufficient to acquire basic job knowledge in the general ledger sub systems such as fixed assets, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable.  Also, a good working knowledge of healthcare accounting issues and requirements and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with on-going deadlines is desired. · Knowledge:Understanding of GAAP.  Knowledge of personal computers and spreadsheets is required and knowledge of accounting software is preferred.  Must have strong analytical and organization skills, and the ability to work well as a team
