State Adopton Caseworker

This position is responsible for a full range of adoption services for Pennsylvania Families, including: conducting home studies, matching waiting families and children, post placement supervision, and post permanency services.

Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelors Degree with a state approved academic major.  MSW or equivalent M.A. preferred.  Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities:
Conduct placement of children, according to policies, for families that have been studied and approved for adoptive placement.Provide supervision of children in placement during the supervisory period.Assist families in their search for children by being the liaison between the families and the Adoption Exchanges, County Children and Youth Agencies and private foster care agencies.Conduct periodic adoption group meetings for prospective families interested in adoption.Conduct individual interviews and home studies for initially approved families according to agency expectations and procedures.Maintaining tracking of home studies sent to county workers.  Send copies of tracking to families on a monthly basis.Attend pre-placement meetings and monitor pre-placement visitation.Submit post placement reports at appropriate times and work to finalize adoptions according to scheduled recommendations by the court.Organize and manage time so all reports and documents are completed in a timely manner and included in adoption records.Research and write child assessments when assigned.Carry out specific matching for children assigned through Child Specific Recruitment.Attend SWAN and Adoption related meetings and conferences.Complete other tasks as assigned.
