Summary: 

Position supports, manages and maintains the Spheris data center to ensure corporate and production systems are fully functional, in good operational condition and are free from errors. Manages and maintains system security to ensure the safety of the company’s computing environment. Works with project and development teams to design and engineer computing systems for active and future projects. Responsible for other administrative tasks such as user account maintenance, e-mail management, documentation and reporting.

 

Job Responsibilities:

-Continuously monitors the health of the systems within the Spheris data center.

-Manages large infrastructure solutions such as the messaging platform, monitoring utilities, and domain structure.

-Identifies and corrects problems with system performance and functionality.

-Identifies and suggests upgrades and enhancements required of systems to maintain functionality and optimal performance.

-Identifies hardware/software requirements for corporate projects and performs the build of these systems.

-Reviews product design and recommends enhancements to improve quality of products and/or procedures.

-Performs code deployment/installation of proprietary software to production systems.

-Performs regular system maintenance, patching and updates

-Creates technical documentation and metrics related to system functionality and performance.

-Perform other duties as assigned.

-Performs product analysis and determines the best solution for the needs of the business.

-Analyzes results produced by monitoring tools and determines best course of action to resolve a system problem.

 

Job Qualifications: 

Education:

High School diploma required, AA/BA/BS degree and technical training preferred, or equivalent additional experience

Experience:

8 – 10 or more years experience in an enterprise class support role.

Knowledge / Skills:

Working knowledge of Exchange, IIS, HP/Compaq/Dell Servers, Networking devices, Windows NT/2000/2003, Active Directory, MS ISA, Altiris, VM Ware, UNIX/Linux, SQL/Oracle and facilities equipment.

Licenses / Certifications:

Microsoft or other technical certifications preferred.
