General Responsibilities:

 

1.  Maintain backup and recovery environment

2.  Perform Day Shift operational duties

3.  Assist with process improvement initiatives

4.  Assist with root cause analysis and problem resolution initiatives

5.  Trains backup team member in the use of TSM and TDP tools

6.  Communicate with MIS teams and vendors



Requirements


Specific Responsibilities

 

1. Maintain backup and recovery environment

•Configures TSM and TDP tools to ensure successful backup and recovery of data, local and remote, on Windows, Linux and AIX platforms

•Creates and tests TSM scripts for new servers as they are implemented

•On a daily basis reviews backup failures and takes appropriate steps to correct

•Maintains adequate inventory of available tapes for backup purposes

•Ensures offsite media storage processes are adhered to

•Documents tape backup/restore process/procedures/policies

•Performs restore requests as received through Support Magic tickets

 

2.  Perform Day Shift operational duties

•Load NDDF data and execute NDDF.Load job plan when weekly CD's arrive

•Monthly load of PRISM distributor's via adhoc requests

•Monthly load of MedSurg distributor's via adhoc requests

•Prepare outbound TSM tapes and documentation for Iron Mountain pickup

•Perform restart requests as requested

•Deactivate and activate job/job plan's as requested

 

3.  Assist with process improvement initiatives

•Continuously reviews scheduled activities in order to recommend improvement/efficiencies

 

4. Assist with root cause analysis and problem resolution initiatives

•Provides UC4 stats and reports to job owners to assist in root cause analysis

•When appropriate, recommends process improvements/solutions to prevent/correct production process failures

 

5. Trains backup team member in the use of TSM and TDP tools

•Trains backup in the use of TSM and TDP backup/restore tools

•Conducts information shares in the use and operations of TSM and TDP tools

 

7. Communicate with MIS teams and vendors

•Communicates production failures to MIS teams per documented instructions

•Utilizes Magic Service Desk tool to create and monitor problem tickets

•Updates and distributes the Daily Operations Report to MIS

•Communicates hardware/software failures to vendors in a timely manner

 

Backup Responsibilities

•Provide backup support for UC4 scheduling

•Provide backup support to Production Services Manager
