Due to tremendous growth, the College of American Pathologists has an excellent opportunity, with our Northfield, IL office for Technical IT Buyer within the Purchasing Department in the Division of Finance.

The Position:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT Buyer to join a growing procurement team. We are employing some of Purchasing’s best practices to obtain the best product and service values in the IT market. We would like someone who has room to grow in their career. Three to five years of corporate experience would be appropriate.

We are a non-profit with some very strong revenue centers, so we look for unique candidates at the CAP. If you are up for fun challenges, this will be a great fit. You will be responsible for full lifecycle procurement for a wide range of IT products and services with various complexities.

We forge consultative partnerships with our IT managers and stakeholders to streamline our process and develop a comprehensive image of our IT needs and the most appropriate products and services to meet our requirements. We will look for someone with great interpersonal skills.

Experience with Internet sourcing, matching supplier offerings to required skills, pipelining, and managing information flow are all experiences we will be looking for in the person who is ultimately selected.

We would like someone who is capable and knowledgeable in the area of software asset management.

The requisite record keeping and filing requirements associated with buying is also required.

We use the Oracle Financial applications, so experience here is a plus.

What we require:

To reiterate, we are looking for a candidate with minimum of three years of procurement experience. The job requires high energy, creative thinking, ability to build relationships, and collaborate in a team environment. Must be proficient in contracts and negotiation strategies. You must have excellent writing skills, and ability to relate well with a wide variety of people internally and externally. You also must have knowledge of various licensing schemes utilized by IT suppliers. We will look for demonstrated excellence in procurement, oral communication, phone etiquette, and organizational skills.

Who is our ideal candidate?

Ideally, you will three to five years of procurement experience and have demonstrated the ability to effectively establish a consultative partnership with IT professionals. You will be an out-of-box thinker who has employed a number of creative strategies to negotiate IT licenses and achieve savings. C.P.M. certification is a bonus.
