Technical Director Microbiology Laboratory

Direct Staff Medical Placement seeks a doctoral level Associate Technical Director or Technical Director for its Microbiology Laboratory.  The position reports to a Technical Division Chief and will have the opportunity to interact with other Technical Directors in the Molecular Microbiology/Serology/Virology specialties. The Microbiology Laboratory is part of our Microbiology Division that does bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology and parasitology testing. The Microbiology Division is a large, complex, well-established laboratory that includes virology, serology, microbiology and molecular microbiology. The Microbiology Division is involved in training the residents and fellows and participates in an allied health training program. The Technical Director of microbiology would take primary responsibility for bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology and parasitology. 

 

The ideal candidate should have doctorate degree in microbiology or related field.  Postdoctoral training in clinical microbiology with D(ABMM) certification or eligibility is required.  The successful candidate is expected to have a comprehensive knowledge of clinical microbiology as well as the ability to maintain, up-date and trouble­shoot current procedures. In addition, the ideal candidate should be knowledgeable in the areas of budget development, strategic planning and quality assurance/process improvement. The applicant must also demonstrate effective communication skills and strong customer focus.
