Job Duties:

 

·  Provide health care to urology inpatients and outpatients by performing initial and interim health histories and physical examinations, screenings, admissions, provide necessary patient education, apply currently accepted preventive health care measures, routinely monitor and adjust anticoagulation therapies.

·  Ordering of laboratory, radiologic, diagnostic tests, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, and pulmonary functions tests and provide initial interpretation of each.

·  Order medications, write both inpatient and outpatient prescriptions, perform venous and arterial punctures to obtain blood samples, initiate and/or expedite requests for consultations, special tests or studies while keeping the managing physician appraised of progress and results.

·  Participate in planning and coordinating educational programs for staff through presentations of clinical topics, sharing with colleagues information relevant to clinical practice gained from literature review and educational offerings and by just being a role model and preceptor for all students and staff assigned to the GU Service.

·  Will be expected to see, on a weekly basis, approximately 8 – 10 consulted patients, 4 – 6 Pre-Op History and Physical patients, and 20 – 30 Return Visit patients.  Urology Service will allot time to perform the additional duties of screening 10 – 15 consults per week and maintaining required educational training through 2 hours of Administrative Time each week.

·  Participate in monthly meetings for the Service, Section and Peer-Group.  They will be working with approximately 23 co-workers at any given time depending on staffing needs.

 

 

Experience/Qualifications Needed:

 

· Minimum 12 months Urology experience.

· Knowledge of uro-flow machine, a bladder ultrasound scanner, a vital signs machine, and multiline telephone.

· Ability to function proficiently on a computer.

· MSN or Advanced Certification for ARNP / Bachelor’s Degree and Accredited PA program for PA-C

· State Licensure

· ANCC or AANP Certification for ARNP / NCCPA Certification for PA-C

· ACLS

 

 

Hours:

 

Monday through Friday, Day Shift.
