Vice President of Patient Care Services, Valley Health System

Valley Health System, a California Local Health Care District, owns and operates three acute hospitals and a skilled nursing facility.  Hemet Valley Medical Center is a 340-bed facility located in Hemet, Menifee Valley Medical Center is an 84-bed facility located in Sun City, and Moreno Valley Community Hospital is a 95-bed facility located in the city of Moreno Valley.  Hemet Valley HealthCare Center is a 113- bed skilled nursing facility located in Hemet.  Currently the District encompasses approximately 882 square miles in the San Jacinto Valley in west central Riverside County.  It includes the City of Hemet, the City of San Jacinto, the City of Sun City, and the surrounding unincorporated areas.  Population of the District is approximately 360,000.

Valley Health System is currently recruiting for a Vice President of Patient Care Services.  The Vice President will be responsible for the Hemet and Menifee facilities.  Currently, each facility has an Administrator who will partner with this position.  The position will have dual reporting responsibilities including the Administrator and the CEO of the Valley Health System.

Facility Overview:

Hemet Valley Medical Center currently has 11 direct reports and 511 total staff members reporting.  The core nursing staff is highly stable with a low ratio of temporary staff.  Hemet Valley Medical Center’s primary service area is in a growing and affordable community of about 150,000.00.   


Menifee Valley Medical Center has 5 direct reports and approximately 293 total staff members reporting.  The facility has an award-winning building design which promotes cost efficiencies and highly effective patient care.  Menifee Valley Medical Center reported over 5,000 admissions in 2007.  The hospitals are approximately 13 miles in distance and convenient

Preferred Qualifications:

· BSN required, MSN  highly desirable or able to obtain within two years of accepting the position
Able to obtain California RN licensure prior to employment

· 5 years of senior nurse leadership experience with 3+ years at the executive  (CNO / VP) level

· Previous acute care nursing background

· Proven track record of developing and implementing programs and strategies based on organizational assessments and needs analysis surveys

· Excellent budgetary skills and experience reflecting fiscally responsible strategies

· Able to set standards of accountability in tandem with a principle- centered leadership style

· Previous experience in executing organizational “cultural change”

· Able to develop positive and professional relationships with physicians
