Workforce Development Specialist
Location: Boston, MA 02118 Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: Human Resources Work Experience: 5+ to 7 Years Career Level:Experienced (Non-Manager) Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Boston Medical is seeking an innovative, collaborative and dynamic person for the position of Workforce Development Specialist Key Responsibilities Design, develop, deliver workplace based training and development projects, assess workforce competencies, and develop appropriate training solutions to enhance learning and improve workforce job knowledge and skills in support of the strategic direction of BMC. Interface with subject matter experts and stakeholders to define needs, translate business requirements into performance, learning and behavioral objectives and gather content and skill requirements for programs. Work directly with managers and staff to ensure outreach strategies, curriculum offered and timing of programming meets the educational needs of staff along with operational needs of the medical center. Identify opportunities for external funding for workforce development programs; contribute to the development, writing and submission of appropriate grant proposals; administer grant-funded programs including the creation of business proposals and budgets, grants administration and grant execution work plans. Analyze trends in workforce demographics for the organization and develop appropriate plans to meet the needs of a changing business. Design and develop learning materials—Facilitator and Participant Guides, Quick Reference Guides, Job Aids, course content, and instructional strategies based on needs analysis and target audience. Requirements5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in training and professional development, instructional/curriculum design preferably in a large, complex organizational setting. Requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s strongly preferred in Instructional Design, Human Resource Management, Business Management, Organizational Design, or Education. Proven interpersonal relations capability and communications (written and oral) skills in order to maintain positive business relationships with multiple work units and stakeholders. Experience communicating and negotiating with universities, colleges, health care, or training institutions, and senior executives. Ability to successfully deploy and implement large-scale projects, take initiative and prioritize multiple functions, tasks and work time efficiently, but still work in the spirit of teamwork and cooperation, facilitate consensus and manage collegial relationships with project stakeholders. Requires PC proficiency including MS Office applications with emphasis MS word, Power Point presentations, Excel spreadsheets, graphing and file management. The following qualifications are PREFERED but not required: Training facilitation, group dynamics skills, proposal, grant, or technical writing experience, grant management and/or budgeting experience.
