Assistant Club Manager / Catering Director

River Forest Country Club is a prestigious, private club in the near west suburbs. The clubhouse has recently undergone an extensive $5 million dollar interior renovation that was completed June of 2006. Future projects will include a complete pool and tennis renovation.

 

The club has a total membership of approximately 400, gross revenues of $4.0 million, food revenues of $1.4 million and beverage revenues of $800,000.  Facilities on the 140-acre property include an 18-hole golf course with attached practice facility, a highly utilized swimming pool, and tennis facility. We provide a variety of dining experiences to our membership from casual to fine dining.  Dining facilities include a Casual Mixed Grill, a Formal Bar, Men’s and Women’s Grill rooms, banquet facilities for over 300 people, as well as a pool snack bar and halfway house.  The club is open six days per week, ten months per year and is active year round.  The Assistant Club Manager reports directly to the Club Manager and has supervision of the Food & Beverage Managers, Locker Room Managers and Pool Managers in directing all service staff personnel.  We are seeking an energetic individual with excellent service and training experience to assist with the management of the day-to-day operations of the clubhouse and food and beverage operations. 

 

Responsibilities include: Manage the sales, planning and execution of all catered events.Assist with the planning and supervision of all club special events.Provide all event billing to the accounting personnel to ensure proper record keeping.Develop and maintain proper service training programs for all employees.Oversee day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the clubhouse and pool.Greet members by name whenever possible and have knowledge of their special needs.Supervise, train and evaluate the Food & Beverage staff.Have excellent communication skills both oral and verbal.Participate actively in GCCMA Chapter as well as the National Organization of CMAA.Handle other duties as assigned by the Club Manager 

 

Successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication and leadership skills.  Candidate must possess computer skills and knowledge of POS systems.  The Assistant Club Manager will have the opportunity to develop and improve member services and to be a part of a progressive goal oriented management team.  We would prefer a candidate with minimum three to five years experience in a private club environment or high-end hotel or restaurant.  Experience with a la carte and banquet operations and special event/catering planning is desired.  This position will be available at the beginning of May. The current Assistant Manager will be leaving June 1st and is staying on for several weeks to allow for a smooth transition.
