Building Maintenance Engineer

The Pasadena Convention Center is looking for an experienced building engineer to perform semi-skilled craft work in the repair and maintenance of the facilities and equipment. This full-time position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Engineer.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 Responsible for the operation of all mechanical equipment such as heating and air conditioning units, pumps, compressors and lighting controls.Operates hand, power and shop equipment.Installs or replaces and repairs any items, mechanical or structuralAssists in the maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing and heating equipmentPerforms preventive maintenance in accordance with established schedules and does related work as assigned and requiredPractices safety measures around equipment at all times and abides by safety regulations in the operation of equipment

Qualifications required

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

 



Must have ability to change air conditioning filters, grease and repair motor bearings, clean air conditioning coils, lubricate or replace work plumbing valves, change burned out lamps. Must have knowledge in the operation of centrifugal chillers and boilers, operation of motor control centers which control fan units.  Must have basic  knowledge of electrical wiring. Must have knowledge of general structural repairs of locks, door mechanism, carpentry, painting and general plumbing repairs.  Must have experience in the operation of forklifts, low-powered nail guns, automatic hydraulic lifts, ladders, grinders, table saws, drill presses and other necessary tools needed to carry out everyday job duties.

 

Education required

High school graduate plus two years work experience in related field
