Human Resources Generalist
Ready to move up to an HR Generalist role? The HR team at Prometheus is looking to add an HR Generalist to our team.
Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist will focus on a a wide variety of duties such as recruitment, employee relations, benefits, training, compensation, unemployment and disability claims, worker’s compensation, compliance of state/federal laws and other administrative duties for the Human Resources Department. While no one day will be the same, a typical week may touch upon any of the following:
Recruit candidates, phone-screen and interview, and present feedback on candidates to management.Coordinate and represent company recruitment activities (e.g., job fairs, encourage employee referrals).Track/respond to resumes and applications received from candidates.Weekly, update internal job posting and place help wanted advertisements for open positions. Work closely with department managers, supervisors and employees on corrective action, performance appraisals and conflict resolution.Counsel employees and supervisors in the interpretation and application of company personnel guidelines.Interpret and assist in the development of HR policies and procedures.Design and conduct staff development training programs and materials (e.g., Coaching & Corrective Action, Recruiting, HR Basics, Respect and Diversity training).Conduct and prepare materials for monthly New Hire OrientationResearch and gather outside salary information (e.g., competitors, salary reports from agencies, job postings on the internet, etc.)Obtain and analyze current employee salary information, prepare market analysis and define compensation suggestions to assist management in the compensation decision-making process. Respond, administer and manage claims to ensure closure.Review/analyze loss runs reports.Work closely with broker and insurance company through the entire Worker’s Compensation claim process.Advise managers on Worker’s Compensation procedures.Create, maintain and closeout employee files.Review and process all new hire paperwork (check for completeness, current year compliance, identification and appropriate signatures).Create and update various department-tracking logs (e.g., hire/termination, FMLA, WC claims, benefits eligibility and EDD claims).Assemble, update and disburse HR related documents to managers and employees (e.g., files, packets, employment agreements, etc.).Review EDD determinations and file appeals/attend hearings if necessary.Prepare employee separation notices and conduct exit interviews and determine reason for separation. Work closely with the Payroll Department to ensure that employee information is transmitted from the HRIS to payroll, timely and accurately. Make site visits in order to build and maintain positive relationships with field employees.
