Human Resources Manager
Job Description:
The Westin Providence, Rhode Island's premiere luxury hotel, seeks dynamic, experienced candidates for Human Resources Manager. Located in the heart of Providence, adjacent to the RI Convention Center, the Westin Providence features 564 ultra-deluxe guestrooms and employes approximately 300 union and non-union associates.
-Support the Area Director of Human Resources by coordinating and leading efforts of the human resources team in the day to day operation.
-Act as a liaison between hotel staff and the Area Director as needed.
- Keeps Area Director of Human Resources apprised of all communications, correspondence, projects, disputes and other activities that he/she is aware of and/or working on.
-Assists in recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel.
-Conducts all pre-employment processes, including, but not limited to, conditional job offers to applicants, administrative paperwork, reference/criminal checks and coordinating the drug testing.
-Assist in facilitating open communications to discern grievances and to respond to those grievances in all appropriate manners, including redressing those meriting correction.
-Assist in overseeing all employee relations and labor related matters as they relate to federal, state, and local employment and civil rights laws, inlcuding but not limited to, Title VII, ADA ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act and comparable state and local laws, and general human and civil rights.
-Preferably familiar with local labor unions.
-Maintain and administer incentive programs.
-Processes all benefits paperwork and data input; assists associates with any benefit related questions or issues
-Manage termination process and respond to unemployment claims requests.

- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English
-Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication proccess
-Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
-Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, wage and hour issues, and labor reltions, but not limited to the following statutes theur comparable state and local laws: Title VII, ADEA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, and FMLA.
-Working knowledge of wage and salary, employment and benefits administration.
-Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
-Ability to mantain excellent relations with staff and maintain staff confidentiality at all time
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
-Most work environments are performed indoors. Remperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmenal systems.
-Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 6 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day.Lenght of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
-Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments and locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
-Must be able to lift up to 15lbs. occasionally.
-Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
-Education:Bachelor's degree required.
-Experience: Two to four years of human resources experience or operations management required.
-Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Starwood standard.
