Job Description As a member of the Marriott Learning Services Group (MLS) – professional staff, reporting to the Senior Manager, Learnings, this individual contributor becomes a PeopleSoft General Ledger (PSGL) and Marriott International General ledger (MIGL) subject matter expert and leverages a strong business acumen, polished written and oral communication skills as well as accomplished presentation style to impart functional knowledge to the PSGL and MIGL user community in support of department business objectives. The Training Manager has full charge responsibility for the PSGL and MIGL Training Programs which supports approximately 1,800 enterprise-wide end users of the PSGL and MIGL with a primary customer base composed of new users. Responsibility for these training programs includes promoting the program, keeping it current, and enhancing it to meet the changing needs of its customers. The Training Manager is also the primary instructor for the existing classroom based program and acts as a general resource for PSGL and MIGL user learning. This includes the PeopleSoft component of the Assistant Controllers’ Management Development Program. The Training Manager generally works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process.Expected Contributions The Training Manager will become a leading functional resource within the company for the PSGL and MIGL by building a strong set of skills across all end user functions and the ability to relate this knowledge to the end users in applicable and meaningful ways. Specific responsibilities include:§ Training Delivery: Become expert in PSGL and MIGL course content. Teach scheduled classes, utilizing knowledge base, training manuals and supporting materials in a hands-on environment. Utilize classroom and one-on-one desk side settings, delivering to both casual and power end users (corporate and field personnel) as well as executives. Utilize effective teaching strategies, targeting particular trainees where feasible. Teach primarily at corporate headquarters, but occasionally may travel to non local property locations. Monitor and follow-up on student learning and course evaluations. Assist with the delivery of other non PeopleSoft courses offered by MLS. § Training Customer Relations: Develop key relationships with regional offices personnel in order to promote the PeopleSoft training program in the various regions. Develop and utilize productive working relationships to understand and respond to a variety of user training priorities. Encourage feedback from trainees and keep users informed of available training opportunities. § Training Program Maintenance: Monitor changes in system functionality and user policies & procedures, interpret the general user impact and update the corresponding course content and training materials on a timely basis, including ownership and management of training database instances. Deliver updated documentation to Marriott Global Source (MGS) Web site manager for MGS publication as well as to print vendor for reproduction. § Training Program Administration: Oversee course scheduling, materials preparation, classroom setup, and assist with logistics if required. Control program costs and revenues and participate in the annual budget process. .§ Specialty Training: Where particular topics/audiences may not be appropriate for the standard training program, provide support for alternative solutions. Participate as learner as well.§ Training Program Development: As new demands and opportunities warrant, investigate and pursue alternative training strategies. Maintain relationship with PeopleSoft (vendor) and stay apprised of available training tools and support services. § Interface with the enterprise wide support network, providing leadership and guidance to the end user support function. Champion the help desk personnel (and ultimately end users’) interests as it relates to improving upon the existing training program. In collaboration with the Financial Information Management (FIM)-GL team, provide functional support to PeopleSoft Finance Support, addressing functional issues they are unable to solve. Participate in the support process and manage issues as required from the end users all the way through and including the various IR organizations responsible for resolution of the technical issues when needed.§ Monitor end users’ issues with PeopleSoft General Ledger application. Identify trends and address by supplementing training and documentation as appropriate.§ Projects: Participate with the Marriott Learning Services team on special projects or business initiatives as assigned, including supporting other functional excellence programs and professional development at headquarters as needed. Candidate ProfileSuccessful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:§ Education: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Management Information Systems, Education or Accounting/Finance. Training in technical writing and job training methodologies. § Experience: - Minimum four years professional experience - Two years of training program development and administration; training material development and/or instructor led class room based training delivery preferred- Must be proficient with Microsoft desktop automation (Office, Outlook) applications. - Experience with PeopleSoft General Ledger and/or managing a financial process is desired- Experience with Marriott accounting processes preferred § Key Skills: Exceptional management skills, especially in the areas of communication (both verbal and written), initiative, planning/organizing, teambuilding, negotiating/collaborating, creative problem solving, time management and continuous process improvement.We offer an excellent benefits package that includes: matching 401(k) profit sharing plan, tuition reimbursement and an employee discount on most Marriott brand properties.
