Senior Property Accountant

Ashford Hospitality Trust, the only publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on investing in hotels at all levels of the capital structure and across all segments – a one-stop shop for the lodging industry, is searching for a Senior Property Accountant for their North Dallas Corporate office. Our diversified investment strategy offers the benefits of direct hotel ownership, mezzanine capital, first mortgages and sale-leaseback transactions.

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES

· Maintain general ledgers and perform accounting functions for ownership entities of hotel investments

·  Verification of manager financial statements

·  Prepare/verify property level consolidated statements using consolidating software

·  Record proper accounting treatment of leases/property specific contracts

·  Prepare third party manager elimination entries

·  Assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements

·  Prepare consolidated balance sheet support schedules

·  Complete intercompany elimination’s

·  Perform property-level fluctuation analysis

·  Field property specific requests from audit firm and other departments

·  Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley policies and procedures

·  Supervision of staff accountant

·  Special projects as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS

·  Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

·  3+ years accounting experience

·  Experience with multi-entity accounting (preferably hospitality or real estate related)

·  Experience in accounting for loan transactions (from borrower’s perspective)

·  Experience with SOX compliance is preferred

·  Proficiency in Excel and Word

·  Excellent communication, organization and problem solving skills

·  Management or supervisory experience a plus
