Technical Premix Manager

This position will formulate HNH custom premixes to meet specific customer needs or industry segments, which includes developing formulations by managing the end-to-end process from configurator through manufacturability. In addition, you will be responsible for managing 3rd party materials in the configurator by ensuring the correct materials are available from the most cost-effective supplier; working with Procurement to reach new supplier agreements; researching new ingredient availability; anticipating and understanding industry trends and applies this knowledge to prepare for new formulations; conducting statistical analysis on manufacturability of formulations to continuously improve formulation configurations; Formulations Quality Maintenance; monitoring successful formulations; analyzing technical and production overages for continuous improvement; providing technical support to customers and sales reps with minimal or no direction in the areas of all related application issues (i.e., product stability, form, content uniformity, etc.) in all premixes consistent with business needs; identifying issues and makes recommendations to Senior Management; recognizing internal and customer technical opportunities, recommending solutions to appropriate personnel, and contributing to modifications and enhancements to processes; recommending modifications to the customer’s processes and equipment; and initiating discussions/meetings on issues and follows up with appropriate personnel.

B.S. degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 6-8 years appropriate industry experience, preferably with an ingredient supplier is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Strong Food Industry background (at least 5 years) preferred. In depth knowledge of human premix products and food industry market segments, including manufacturing processes, and appropriate scientific, nutritional, and industry-related application and manufacturing processes required. Qualified candidates must have a demonstrated ability to discuss and integrate appropriate scientific knowledge to achieve business goals, as well as experience working with external customers on existing premix formulations and new business opportunities, and statistical/trend analysis tools. Must have excellent written and verbal communication, computer skills, and be familiar with government regulations. Ability to travel domestically and internationally is required.
