Thorough understanding of database structure and programming concepts.  DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is part of the Revenue Accounting team and will be responsible for both managing database oriented tools used in month end accounting close journal entry and reconciliation processes and program managing technical projects which impact Revenue Accounting. Revenue Accounting is responsible for our client’s global revenue/metric accounting, reconciliation and reporting, ensuring live site data accuracy, completeness and consistency, as well as cash accounting. The ideal candidate will have a strong database/technical background, solid understanding of accounting, a focus on achieving results and excellent organization and communication skills. Specific Responsibilities Manage and enhance database tools used to compare and reconcile revenue transactions during month end accounting processes that are basis for monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Troubleshoot technical issues effecting underlying accounting data, with ability to communicate financial/accounting impact to Revenue Accounting management and others. Revenue accounting owner of back-office transaction system projects: primary responsibilities include defining Revenue Accounting requirements and ensuring needs/requirements are met for all projects through the following phases. Strong data mining, troubleshooting and analysis capabilities. Business Requirements gathering and documentation Technical Spec gathering and review Accounting Process Design Accounting User Acceptance Testing Final Rollout/Implementation/Training Build understanding of underlying systems used to log/report data used for recording financial transactions. Build relationships with all stakeholders. Coordinate with Revenue Accounting management and team to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness and learning across projects. Identify gaps to requirements and communicate with Revenue/Accounting Management to ensure priorities are identified and consistent decisions are made on a timely basis. Work with Revenue/Accounting/IT management to understand and define future needs/requirements, to be proactively and consistently incorporated into future systems/projects. Qualifications 5 – 7 years of general/revenue accounting and transactional systems experience with progressively more responsibility, preferably with experience in IT/data systems.
