Tourism Editor - Remote Swing Position - East Coast

Works remotely with limited supervision to evaluate, assign and report appropriate ratings and classifications for lodgings, restaurants, campgrounds, and points of interest for potential use in AAA publications and as a recommendation to members.  Provides an individual perspective and intellectual property by writing creatively pertaining to the properties visited as required.   Relationship of Job to Management   This position reports to the Regional Manager.   Supervisory Requirements   None.   Duties and Responsibilities   1.  Evaluates and designates classifications and ratings for a variety of lodging, dining and campground operations and points of interest throughout North America. Measures compliance levels for cleanliness, physical condition and customer service. Gathers information and analyzes a wide variety of data regarding each property, submits reports; advises property operators about the listing and rating of their facilities pertaining to AAA policies and procedures. Creates descriptive text pertaining to assigned destinations using systematic guidelines. Works efficiently within the budgeted guidelines. (80%) 2.  Performs additional tasks including but not limited to: (10%) ·  Develops and maintains territory coverage schedule and overall management of territory, or out-of-territory assignments. Completes all evaluations according to production deadlines. ·  Maintains files on all properties as required. ·  Completes expense reports, weekly work summaries and all other administrative tasks by assigned deadlines. ·  Investigates member complaints concerning lodgings, restaurants, campgrounds, attractions, and points of interest; recommends or decides on appropriate action. ·  Works closely with Account Managers to provide key information, in a timely manner that could impact their revenue generating efforts including, but not limited to providing new listing leads or changes in property status. ·  Reports any unauthorized use of the AAA emblem. 3.  Communicates with clubs, National Office staff, and with contacts throughout the hospitality industry. May represent AAA at industry meetings, seminars or tradeshows as assigned. Promotes a greater understanding of the AAA Diamond Rating Process through presentations and consultations on an as needed basis. (5%) 4.  Provides suggestions and input into ways to improve the Diamond Rating Process. Participates in departmental task forces and other committees, as needed. (5%)   Requirements   ·  Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years experience working within the hospitality industry, travel-related field and/or management ·  Advanced proficiency in writing; excellent oral communication skills ·  Moderate proficiency in standard PC applications ·  Valid driver’s license and major credit card (with a minimum credit availability of $1,500) required ·  Reliable and presentable automobile which has a lockable trunk or storage compartment ·  Moderate to extensive travel (approximately 75%); willingness to accept assignments in Canada, Caribbean and Mexico ·  Certain territories could require an associate to be away from home for up to 250 nights a year. Each assignment typically being 4 to 6 weeks in length with a week home in between assignments ·  Relocation may be required; prospective associate must reside within the territory assigned within a reasonable proximity to the majority of evaluations ·  Bilingual capability (Canadian French or Spanish) a plus ·  Live near a major airport ·  Fly without restrictions Have a passport or ability to gain one
