VP of Finance

SUMMARY:

The VP of Finance will work with the President of Operations at a new start-up company based in Atlanta focus exclusively on hotel management and ownership. The VP of Finance will utilize their onsite operational knowledge and controller experience in the hospitality industry to build the back office from the ground up.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.
Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders. Also analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards (GAAP).
Ability to perform quarterly onsite internal audits of hotel braches and provide feedback to the hotel general managers.
Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry.
The VP of Finance will be responsible for the corporate and individual hotel property tax returns.
Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
Assist in obtaining the necessary licenses and insurance required to start a business.
Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions.
Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company.
Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, real estate, and conservation of assets.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred CPA licensure required Experience in hotel industry Through knowledge of day to day hotel operational knowledge Proficiency with corporate and individual hotel tax return preparation and verification
WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
