2008 Fast Track Trainee

Required Skills: This is an entry level position for a recent college graduate who is interested in beginning an Information Technology career. 

  Bachelors degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related discipline (minimum 3.0/4.0 overall GPA; preferably an early 2008 graduate). Possess knowledge of web development and Relational Databases.

  Experience with .Net, HTML, Java, Java Script, XML, XSLT and SQL.

  Demonstrated ability to absorb and apply technical knowledge as well as a basic understanding of the insurance industry.

  Strong oral and written communication skills.

Individual must be self-motivated, detail oriented and a team player.

Qualified candidates should be authorized to work for any US Company.

 

Desired/Optional Skills: Knowledge of Portal Technology, Oracle, Visio, Lotus Notes, MS Office, modeling tools such as Rational Rose, and familiarity with development tools such as WSAD or Visual Studio

 

Duties/Activities: Implement design specifications within various distribution applications utilizing appropriate tools and techniques according to customer requirements

  Employ quality assurance guidelines during testing and production perform testing and troubleshooting of coding and overall systems

  Employ Java, PL/SQL, etc. coding where necessary

  Maintain security policies and standards when developing applications

Establish a working relationship and facilitate on-going dialog with technical leads, team  members,managers and end- users/customers.

  Develop an understanding of the insurance industry and business

 

 

Comments: The Fast Track team offers a program that ensures each individual obtains the proper skills to become an experienced information technology professional at New York Life.  This program combines independent studies, mentoring, formal training and real world experience to transform a new employee into an experienced Corporate Information Department (CID) professional.  This individual will become familiar with New York Life’s systems, products, technology and environment.  In addition, the intent of this program is to develop individuals who are cooperative problem solvers, rational decision makers and critical thinkers.  Fast Track team members will be prepared to be placed in their respective area upon graduating from the program which typically takes 24 months. This highly selective program seeks candidates with specialized skill sets, an intense desire to learn, a high level of motivation and excellent communication skills.
