ASSOCIATE UNDERWRITER, TRUCKING

Great American's Trucking Division offers a nationwide program that specializes in insuring the unique exposure of the For Hire Trucker. This progressive program focuses on the owner operator and small fleet markets.

Our Specialty Trucking Division is currently searching for an Associate Underwriter. The role of the Associate Underwriter is to apply the fundamental skills required of a Trucking Division underwriter. To perform the required underwriting and financial analysis to make appropriate recommendations.

Evaluates and expedites all underwriting submissions. Performs the required fundamental risk analyses to identify hazards and exposures. Recommends a course of action.

Handles majority of underwriting referrals on behalf of the underwriters.

Determines risk and applies appropriate premiums and conditions to policies with guidance from underwriting staff.

Participates, with supervision, in communication with agents during agent visitations.

Follows the company policies and procedures regarding the establishment of risk analysis.

Performs other duties as directed.

Must have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years experience working as an underwriting assistant, or the equivalent combinaton of business/work experience. Commerical auto experience is preferable.

Must have strong working knowledge of PCs and computer software; commonly used insurance concepts, practices, and procedures; general accounting, finance and economic principles, as well as advanced analytical reasoning skills.
