Accountant I - Tax

National Interstate Insurance Company wants you to add your vision and drive to our team!  We’re currently seeking a Tax Accountant I for our Northeast OH Corporate Headquarters.

 

Summary

Prepares premium tax returns, state returns and local returns for review by Tax Specialist.  Assists with Federal tax return and monthly tax provision for financial statements.

 Prepares and files all estimated and annual premium tax forms and payments.Accounts for state taxes, including quarterly state tax accrual entry and annual filing. Use state tax software to prepare all state returns and extensions.  Maintain spreadsheet of tax detail and accrue related expenses.Prepares and files all local tax returns and account for any quarterly estimated payments and related accruals.Assist in the annual preparation of the US Federal tax return.Assist in the preparation of the monthly tax provision.Prepare account reconciliations on a monthly basis.EFT federal tax payments for income and excise taxes on a quarterly basis.Performs other duties and special projects as directed.



Keys to success include:Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or universityAccounting majors highly preferred1-2 years related Accounting experience preferred Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AccessWorking knowledge of accounting and tax theory and principlesStrong analytical and communication skillsProactive Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
