Designs, develops, tests, debugs, maintains and documents software components.
Demonstrates/applies knowledge of application modeling, design and development.
Develops time estimates for project deliverables.
Provides alternative solutions and technical expertise across a range of applications, systems and/or technologies.
Collaborates with end users and project team members on development of requirements and design of applications.
Advise manager of risks, issues, and concerns.
Maintain expertise in technology and development in the J2EE space, as well as other enabling technologies.
Provides expert technical advice and counsel to management.
Demonstrates leadership skills.

BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management or equivalent experience.

Experience:

7-9 years experience with software development and production maintenance of Java applications. Must have experience with JSP, JDBC, and Servlets.
7-9 years of experience with development of web-based applications using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
5-7 years experience with an RDMS such as Oracle, SQL Server, UDB, or other. Experience with integration of the database with Java applications.
5-7 years of SQL experience.
Experience with Java Server Faces (JSF).
Knowledge of industry best practices and design patterns.
Knowledge of object-oriented concepts.
Experience with XML, ANT, and CVS.
Experience with Spring and Hibernate.
Experience using XML, XSL, XSLT
Experience in working in a Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment and web services.
7-9 years object-oriented design and development of n-tier applications experience in multiple languages and related technologies (JAVA/J2EE, C++, .NET, Web Services).
Firm understanding of Software Architecture, Design Patterns, and Middleware.
Firm understanding of Web Service concepts, WSDL, XSD, XML.
1+ years experience with Spring and Hibernate.
5+ years working with Internet technologies (HTML/HTTP, LDAP, XML, TCP/IP, XSLT).

Pluses:

Prior experience in insurance is a plus.

Skills:

Senior-level Java skills: Including strong Java development skills (J2EE, J2SE, JSF/Spring/Hibernate) as well as server-side application server configuration (BEA Weblogic) and monitoring.
Ability to perform in-depth reviews into technology aspects for end-to-end performance analysis and troubleshooting.
Ability to implement and manage an automated build and continuous integration environment.
Strong working knowledge of infrastructure and database components of application performance.
Strong problem solving skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Must be self-motivated and demonstrate initiative.
Customer-service oriented and able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
