Assistant Farm Underwriter Underwriting Specialist

State Auto Insurance Company, an eighty-seven-year-old, A+ (Superior Rated) property-casualty insurance company has an opening for an Assistant Farm Underwriter to work in our Farm Center located in Indianapolis, Indiana.  This position is responsible for supporting the farm underwriter in completing the underwriting and sales process associated with farm insurance.  A specified territory will be assigned to the position for performance based assessment.  The position is responsible for the quality of service, timely turnaround of renewals and change requests, and assistance to the underwriter in achieving territory growth goals.  Occasional travel may be required.

 

Qualified applicants must possess previous underwriting experience including basic principles, coverage, terminology, workflow, policy formats, and forms OR previous farm/agribusiness work experience.  Applicants should be technologically savvy and have the ability to use Microsoft Office, Outlook, and general computer software.  A college graduate is preferred, but we will consider candidates with strong work experience.  Previous insurance designations and/or continuing education through company offered insurance courses are required.  INS and/or AU designation or coursework preferred.  This position also requires excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.
