Op Unit: Internal Audit

The Assistant Investment Compliance Officer assists the Investment Compliance Officer in developing, implementing and monitoring the investment compliance system for the Utah Retirement Systems (URS).

Required Experience
Requires knowledge of purposes, principles and theory of institutional investment management; generally accepted accounting principles; investment accounting; modern portfolio theory and application; domestic and international equity portfolio management; real estate, private equity and other non-traditional investment areas; institutional securities transaction principles and practices; analytical tools used to measure portfolio attributes; statistical methods relating to auditing and investments; state and federal laws that govern investment practices and public pension funds; computer operations and data analysis.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally; analyze a variety of complex investment issues and problems and make appropriate recommendations; work with computers, complex spreadsheets, word processing, statistical, and database applications; establish and maintain effective working relationships with investment professionals, co-workers and the public; must be able to work independently and deal effectively with stress caused by work load and time deadlines. Some travel may be required.

Degree Requirements
Bachelor of Sciences

Discipline
Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of responsible experience performing the above and related duties. Specific experience in institutional investing, pension fund management, or investment auditing is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications
Credentials as a Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified Public Accountant, or Certified Internal Auditor are preferred.

Physical Requirements·  Requires some physical activity or muscular strain involving lifting of between 20 - 50 lbs.
