As an Associate Actuary for USAA, you will maintain control of price level, pricing structure, and data systems for a product line to achieve profitability, competitive, and equity goals, or determines proper reserve levels (Statutory and GAAP) for a product line to achieve financial strength goals. May guide and train actuarial analysts, business technology analysts, and/or interns. Qualified candidates need to possess: Supports actuarial modeling software driven models used for pricing, valuation, and/or risk management. Analyzes model input parameters and recommends adjustments. Integrates analysis of model output with model input parameters to recommend model adjustments and improvements to meet strategic goals. Conducts GAAP financial analysis and asset liability analysis, when appropriate. Maintains price level and price structure for a product line by in-depth and highly skilled analysis of all relevant factors to include determination of necessary information. Determines appropriate reserve and/or capital levels for a product line by in-depth and highly skilled analysis of all relevant factors to include determination of necessary information. Works with actuarial management to insure fulfillment of requests for data. Provides expertise, direction and a contact point for Product Development and Information Technology projects to insure that these projects do not adversely affect needs. Works on special assignments which require advanced technical expertise. Manages the completion and publication of profitability projections and regular Actuarial Financial Forecast data and projections. Represents department on internal executive level committees and consults with other areas of USAA on corporate financial analysis including areas such as GAAP accounting adjustments and Federal Income Tax law changes. Serves as a consultant to other areas of USAA, such as Claims, Underwriting, Operations, and Controller. Conducts briefings of USAA top management. Consults with regulatory authorities on rating structure, investment income, etc. Negotiates with external agencies reviewing or auditing reserve levels. Establishes appropriate statistical plans and requirements for analyzing the experience of various products, classification systems, rating plans, basic rates, etc., by analyzing and interpreting information on the results and outlook for all lines of business and areas of operations, in order to be able to develop adequate and competitive rates for new and existing products. Directs the overall management of data requirements. Conducts special studies, seminars and training sessions requiring knowledge of advanced actuarial topics. Minimum requirements: ASA or FSA in Society of Actuaries. 5-8 years' actuarial experience. Bachelor's degree. Preferred experience includes: 3 plus years' experience in Life Insurance Pricing.
