We are currently looking for an Associate Financial Analyst to join OneBeacon Insurance in Canton, MA.

 

This job is responsible for assisting in the production and implementation of financial models that assist in measuring performance and producing relevant analysis of OneBeacon’s Claims operation.  Work products include budgets, metrics, business analysis reports, financial summaries, and cost comparisons for Claims management and other OneBeacon functional areas.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  Collects, merges, coordinates, maintains, and monitors the quality control of financial data. Works with contacts in other groups and departments to collect data.

2.  Assists in the maintenance of modeling and reporting systems to support the home and field offices' information needs.

3.  Assists in analyzing and comparing budget, cost, and/or performance information in order to provide results and advice that identify ways to improve profitability and cost-efficiency.

4.  Performs special projects designed to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy of financial reporting and other business activities.

 

Decision-Making Authority/Accountability Level:

Under general supervision, performs work of moderate complexity.  Exercises minimal discretion and independent judgment within limited authority level and is capable of analyzing routine information requests. Work is often passed to a higher level for decision making.

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

Requires a basic level of skill or proficiency gained through either finance-related work experience or education. Problems are often solved using established guidelines although they may become varied and increasingly complex.  Solutions require integrating financial concepts and creative thought.  Must demonstrate proficiency with computer software including current Windows applications, and other database/ spreadsheet applications and programs.

 

Education and Experience Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree required.  Recent graduate to 3 or more years of related experience preferred, and path to achieve Financial (e.g., CFA) or Actuarial (i.e., FCAS) certification desirable.
