In this exciting position you will be the primary point-of-contact for ABD brokers and municipalities as the dedicated administrator and service provider of The Standard's Group Life and Disability products for this strategic customer. You will work near-site with ABD, but report to our Sales office in Orange, CA. This unique role, blends the best elements of administering these key benefits for ABD employees, and serving as the focal point managing a critical customer relationship for The Standard. Primary responsibilities for this position include: - This role will act as a key member of the ABD account management team, serving as a direct liaison between ABD and The Standard. As the near-site representative, this position will develop and manage effective relationships with key decision makers (VP of HR, Board Members and other principles) and ABD brokers. - The position will provide on-site administration of the Group Life and Disability insurance contracts through responsive/influential communication, independent problem resolution and meeting customer contractual obligations and expectations. Responsible for partnering with the account management team to lead renewal process and finalize contract renewals. Chiefly responsible for managing issues and needs relating to contract administration, customer service, claims, and other group life and disability related inquiries, with and from ABD benefits management team and brokers. - In partnership with ABD, orchestrate and plan employee enrollments. Represent The Standard at benefit fairs, annual re-enrollment meetings and enrollment meetings for new product line roll-outs for all ABD municipalities. - In partnership with Standard and ABD, this individual will frame the core components of this new role, develop a "future state" vision and develop/execute projects and programs to drive to that future state. - This role will provide day-to-day customer service to ABD employees, including assisting employees with understanding of various coverage and benefit features of the plan, evidence of insurability requirements, beneficiary designations, filing claims and coverage eligibility criteria, etc. To succeed in this exciting role you will need: - Demonstrated progressively responsible experience in Employee Benefits of 5+ years, - Ideal candidates will possess 2+ years direct experience managing/administering Group Life and Disability insurance plans for large employee groups (over 1K). Experience gained via either HR experience with employers having over 1K employees, with a group benefits carrier or producer/broker/consultant in a customer service or Account Management role, highly desirable. Working knowledge of Group Dental plans highly desired. - Excellent Customer Service skills, including the ability to express ideas clearly to a broad audience in both oral and written communications. Ability to research, understand and solve customer service problems. Ability to read, comprehend and explain group insurance policy terminology and coverage features to diverse audiences. Ideal candidates will have 1+ years direct customer service experience. - Ability to plan and organize your own work without direct oversight to meet changing priorities and diverse customer needs independently; analyze problems, interpret and apply benefits contract provisions to varied situations; make apply sound judgment to complex customer issues. - Ability to travel regionally to ABD offices, to the headquarters in Portland, Oregon and other locations. - Education: Degree in Business and/ or related field desired, or equivalent experience.
