Department Overview The Health Management Division provides valuable health and wellness services to help people maximize their health and quality of life. Health Management is one of the most critical issues Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama faces in fulfilling its responsibility to be a superior administrator of health care benefits. Our goal is to provide the highest quality benefits and services while we effectively control health care costs. General Responsibilities This position is accountable for coordinating and administering all programs delivered by the Health Management division. Those programs include but are not limited to utilization management activities and member outreach activities, both member centric and provider based programs. Activities may include regular communication with all members of the health care delivery system, group representatives, marketing, utilization review, individual patient assessment, coordination of all components relating to appropriate medical care, data analysis, information gathering and dissemination, maintaining computer databases, resource utilization, and compliance with network directives. Participation and continuous review of URAC standards. Qualifications 1. Bachelor degree or, upon hire, commit to actively pursue a degree2. Active license as a Registered Nurse (RN)3. Currently licensed by the State of Alabama as a Registered Nurse or, upon hire, agree to actively pursue Alabama license4. Minimum of three years clinical experience as an RN5. Experience in a position interpreting and communicating information orally and written6. Experience in a position requiring independent decision-making skills7. Experience in a position using negotiation skills8. Experience communicating with all levels of staff internal and external9. Experience in a position presenting information in formal and informal settings desired10. Obstetrical experience is beneficial11. Experience working with various Microsoft Office programs is a plusThere are multiple positions available with experience in the following areas: obstetrics, rehabilitation, behavioral health, medical surgical, utilization review, and home health/case management Work Schedule The hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.Flexible daytime hours may be available.
