Claim Rep/Sr Claim Rep

Investigates and maintains claims. a. Reviews and evaluates coverage and / or liability.b. Secures necessary information (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements or other documents) in the investigation of claims.Works toward the resolution of claim files, and may attend arbitrations, mediations or trials as necessary. Effects settlements / reserves within prescribed limits and submits recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal settlement authority.Ensures that claim payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner. Ensures compliance of claims handling pursuant to all state, legal, statutory and regulatory bodies to comply with all company procedures and requirements.

Communicate with internal and external customers, including, but not limited to: insureds, claim department staff and management, and Product Management staff. Provide status reports on outstanding claims to management. May provide guidance and assistance to lower level positions and other functional areas.

Participate in self-study or in-house training to continue self-improvement. Attend training conferences and seminars, as directed. Participate in AIC (Associate in Claims) or other insurance industry recognized program.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree or 2-4 years equivalent work experience.

A minimum of one year property or liability claims adjusting experience required. Prior property adjusting experience is a plus. Litigation experience, outside adjusting experience, and/or AIC participation a plus.

Knowledge of insurance coverages, investigative techniques, and claim adjustment procedures. High attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, and proficiency in Word and Excel.
