Claims Assistant
HCC Service Company ("HCC Service"), is seeking a Claims Assistant. HCC Service is a subsidiary of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc. This position will report to the corporate headquarters in Northwest Houston. HCC Insurance operations consist of underwriting agencies; intermediaries; and life, property and casualty insurance companies which are rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best Company and AA (Very Strong) by Standard & Poor’s. HCC Insurance specializes in diversified financial products; group life, accident & health; general aviation; property; marine and energy; and other specialty insurance.
Eligible candidates will have a high school diploma with a minimum of 1 to 2 years of clerical experience. The Claims Assistant will report to the Supervisor.
Skill Requirements:
· Ability to work independently to handle several different projects efficiently and effectively.
· Good analytical skills with the ability to multi-task, especially high volume phone calls.
· Possess strong organizational & detail oriented skills.
· Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel and Word) with good typing & data entry experience.
· Some previous insurance industry experience necessary.
· Must be a team player with the ability to interact and work well with others.
· Flexibility to work overtime as needed by position and supervisor.
· High School degree required.
Job Responsibilities:
· Receives all faxes and inputs into computer, index and publish to data warehousing program.
· Inputs the 1st notices on a daily basis, which includes, but is not limited to, scanning and attaching notices to the claimant in the system. Alerts proper staff members of high dollar notices.
· Distributes letters and documents to properly file in data warehousing program.
· Processing of daily checks with register.
· Reconcile monthly repricing bills
· Performs general clerical work, such as typing, copying and data entry.
· Completes special projects as directed by supervisor and/or manager.
