Claims Audit Specialist

Like all of SAIF Corporation, our Claims Division prides itself on providing high-quality service to injured workers and employers throughout the state of Oregon. Time and again, customer surveys support the fact that we’re succeeding. 

 

Our Claims Division, centrally located at our corporate headquarters in Salem, employs over 300 staff, including claims adjusters, specialists, assistants, vocational coordinators, nurse consultants, and supervisors. The staff is divided into teams that serve companies in their particular geographic area of Oregon. 

 

Using knowledge of workers’ compensation statutes and rules, as well as SAIF policies, our expert claims audit specialists support our mission to set the industry standards for efficiency and service quality. They do so by conducting audits of workers’ compensation claims to establish the time-loss compensation rate, calculate average weekly wages, and verify that benefits have been calculated and paid correctly. The position acts as a technical resource for issues related to time loss benefits and child support orders.

 

Our claims specialists obtain and maintain a current Claims Examiner Certification with SAIF’s help, while continuing to expand their knowledge of workers’ compensation claims management and related areas through participation in professional development opportunities SAIF provides. This knowledge can pave a path to other positions within the Claims Division or throughout the company.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

· Two years of increasingly responsible experience supporting workers’ compensation insurance claims processing or policy service functions. 

· High school graduation or equivalent education.

· Current certification as a Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner or have the ability to obtain certification within a specified period of time after acceptance of the position.

· Familiarity with workers’ compensation claims processing, file documentation, time loss calculation, benefit payment procedures, and governing rules and regulations is preferred.

· Strong math, analytical, oral and written communication, interpersonal, customer service, and phone skills. 

· Good organizational, time management and problem solving skills. 

· Proficiency operating personal computers for data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets.
