Claims Manager

Overview:

Responsible for running and overseeing all aspects of the claims operation. In charge of monitoring performance and working with other members of the management team to achieve stated goals. Direct reports may include Assistant Claims Manager, Unit Managers, Litigation Manager, and Claims Assistant Supervisor. Will have a dotted line reporting responsibility for SIU, MD, Facilities and other departments housed within the claims branch. Responsible for all QA activities. Monitors workflow, staffing, and directs the training needs of office personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures office is fully operational
• Completes final interviews on all candidates and oversees the necessary steps needed for hire
• Accountable for claims office staffing
• Works with management staff to ensure proper workflow and process management
• Coordinates activities with the SIU and MD to ensure proper process, direction and training is given to the staff
• Manages and monitors all high-exposure and complex files
• Directly works with the Litigation Manager to monitor all complex files
• Ensure "best practices" are followed and continually seeks for improved processes
• Monitors and participates in quality control and reviews
• Monitors and reports branch performance against established metrics standards
• Responsible for ensuring proper training for branch employees
• Performance counseling

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience is required
• Minimum of 5 years automobile property & casualty claims experience is required
• Prior auto claims management experience
• Excellent verbal, written, and overall people management skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Organizational and multi-tasking abilities
• Proven leadership ability
• Extensive knowledge in all areas of claims handling
• Prior auto claims management experience is required
• Solid computer skills and use with MS Office Products
