Claims Service Representative-Medical Claims

National Interstate Insurance Company wants you to add your vision and drive to our team!  We are currently seeking a Claims Service Representative for our Medical Claims Unit in our Richfield Corporate office. 

 

Summary

Responsible for assisting in the handling of workers compensation and PIP/Med Pay claims under supervision.  Assistance is provided to the claim handlers and supervisors within the Medical Unit.

 

Main responsibilities will include:

· Submit bills to vendor for bill review

o  Proper claim identification documented on bills prior to submission

· Payment of bills & invoices relating to claims

· Handle incoming mail into Medical Unit

· Conduct required POINT testing as instructed by Supervisor and/or IS Department

· Secure W-9 documentation.

· Send Claims Kits to new customers

o  Prepare welcome letter.

o  Research jurisdictional website for updated forms.

o  Prepare packet with all required documents.

o  Mail certified mail.

· Maintain Captive directory

· Monthly invoices from bill review/EDI vendors. 

o  Review invoices against claim files

o  Issue fee payments

o  Advise supervisor of those fees that are questionable.

· Miscellaneous requests by any claims handler

· Miscellaneous projects as assigned by supervisor

 

 

Qualifications we’re seeking:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 1-3 years office work experience, preferably customer service or administrative/clerical.Strong written and oral communication skills required.Knowledge of PC, word processing, and spreadsheets.  Typing skills of 55-60 wpmAbility to effectively present information one-on-one to customers, management, and other employees of the organization. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  Ability to work under deadlines.  Ability to remain organized and learn and handle multiple tasks.
