Collector Car Specialist

The Midland Company and its A+ rated property & casualty insurance subsidiary, American Modern Insurance Group, is looking for a Collector Car Specialist to join our award-winning Claims Department. We are a proven provider of specialty insurance products and services, headquartered east Cincinnati, Ohio.



The Specialist will be responsible for reviewing Collector Car estimates to confirm accuracy of parts and labor prices, negotiate with repair facilities to obtain agreed cost of repairs and working with the Collector Car Adjusters on settling physical damage claims.  This position will also mentor/teach the current adjusters on repair technique for the Collector Car product.  There will be some travel necessary for Collector Car inspections and participation in the development of a Collector Car Training Program.





Five to ten years of hands on Auto Body experience is required. Two + years of estimate writing experience and strong familiarity with computer-based estimating is required. Experience is the successful resolution of estimate disputes is also required. Prior auto physical damage adjusting and custom car auto body & paint experience is preferred.

Qualified applicants must have the ability to perform high level Auto Body Repairs including: welding on body panels, sheet metal repairs, metal fabrication, fiberglass repairs, sheet metal customization, suspension repair and custom paint. The ability to instruct and share knowledge effectively is essential in this position. Strong customer service skills are a must. Candidates must also have advanced estimating skills and fully understand labor overlap, materials, R&I, and repair vs. restore methods.


 

Experience with upholstery work and engine building is preferred. Strong knowledge on the history of automobiles and/or a personal "passion" for the collector car hobby is preferred. An Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and/or I-CAR Auto Body Repair and Estimating courses are required.
