Commercial Detail Clerk

The Detail Clerk will provide day-to-day support to the commercial property and casualty underwriters/underwriting associates to meet department, branch and corporate goals relating to underwriting profit, renewal retention, rate, customer service, and producer/client relations.

The ideal candidate must have exceptional skills in customer service, interpersonal, excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining workload. The candidate is a self motivated individual, confident in decision making and judgment abilities. The candidate must also demonstrate competencies in mathematical aptitude, strong PC skills including proficiency in Word and Excel, verbal, written and phone skills and the ability to perform within time constraints.

The successful person in this role will be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Enter new business submissions within 24 hours of receipt from Underwriters accurately and complete underwriter assignments. Deliver documentation to recipient as appropriate.
• Process transactions within published workflows including Broker of Record letters, Renewal Do Not Renew/Cancellations, Conditional Renewal Letters, Loss Run Requests, accurately close out dead submissions
• Deliver/scan incoming mail and faxes to Underwriting departments in accordance with branch schedule.
• When requested by UW team order account-specific information for underwriting files including claim information, certified copies. Process outgoing mail accurately and timely.
* Manage the supply duties appropriately, keeping supervisor abreast of issues that arise.
* Take ownership for repairs to fax or Xerox machines, and updates on mail/postage services.
* Order, pull, deliver, and return requested files from storage on a timely manner.
* Maintain adequate supplies for office staff, while staying within the branch supplies budget.
* Contribute to the management of the branch postage budget by ensuring items are sent via the most cost effective method possible.
• Communicate and work effectively with all team members and business partners to ensure the service provided to customers meets or exceeds expectations.
• Effectively prioritize & manage the processing of work and related follow up. Process transactions according to the workflows, procedures, standards, and regulating requirements.
• Communicate regularly regarding status of service requests.
• Actively seeks ways to assist team members and positively accept additional responsibilities whenever possible. Demonstrate flexibility in responding to rapidly changing requests and a "can do" approach to new ideas. Effectively work with supervisor to communicate status of work, issues and concerns in a timely manner, along with identifying training needs and appropriate training solutions
