We currently have an opening for a Large Loss Claims Supervisor (Commercial Lines) in our corporate headquarters in Canton, MA.
In this position you will develop plans, analyze results and oversee daily work of direct reports in the Claims - Litigation/Large Loss Unit (focusing on Commercial General Liability & Commercial Auto claims). You will also be responsible for reviewing and providing direction or recommendations on complex litigated and/or high exposure claims. Monitor litigation management, claim quality, customer feedback and claim reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer satisfaction and achievement of corporate objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensures execution of commercial line claim handling strategies; including appropriate determination of coverage, liability and damages.
Monitors reserving activity to ensure compliance with corporate policy.
Reviews and documents recommendations for claim disposition; including evaluation, negotiation and settlement of claims in excess of staff authority levels.
Reviews and analyzes commercial lines claim reports to identify and address trends. Recommends strategies to correct adverse trends.
Monitors vendors, independent adjusters and appraisers to ensure service quality. Anticipates and meets all customer needs (internal and external).
Manages unit staffing issues; including ensuring appropriateness of staffing levels, creating, implementing and monitoring of performance plans for direct reports.
Manages pending suits, analyzes litigation strategies, and monitors litigation management plans and legal expenses.
Requirements:
Strong claims commercial lines technical knowledge, and legal exposure in local market, excellent negotiation, verbal and written communication skills required.
Must have the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with agents and business partners and interact with internal and external partners and customers.
Demonstrated proficiency with computer software including current Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Outlook. Must maintain a high level of accuracy, and provide follow-through on projects, requires confidentiality in working independently and as a member of a team.
High School diploma required, Bachelors degree preferred.
7-10 years of claims experience, with 3-5 years of supervisory experience along with a strong insurance or technical background.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Will oversee the direction of all litigated and non-litigated claim files and personnel within the department/unit.
Generally supervises 4-7 professional/technical positions, and at least 1 support position.
Accountable for the decisions made, and actions taken by direct reports.
Responsible for ensuring that their teams achieve corporate processing standards and the team's annual business objectives. Strategic planning and achievement of goals for their team.
