We are currently looking for a Compliance Analyst to join OneBeacon Insurance in Canton, MA.
This position gathers data and prepares timely state filings using documented procedures and forms. Coordinates answers to questions from state agencies regarding filings and works with underwriters to resolve issues. Researches and stays familiar with state filing laws for designated areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Prepares filings and submissions for new and revised programs, non-standard forms, manual pages, and rule and rate deviations to various state insurance departments. Gathers data from all necessary resources. Consults regulations and current codes and procedures to complete documentations and articulate procedures.
2. Receives all calls regarding the assigned filings. Coordinates and submits all responses to insurance department questions by obtaining necessary information from underwriting, actuarial, law, and technical services. Works with underwriters to resolve issues with regulators.
3. Reviews insurance circular and bulletin summaries as compiled by the more senior regulatory staff to determine requirements and rate revisions for assigned area.
4. Maintains current knowledge and records of files, fees, notice requirements, and approval procedures for state filing requirements.
5. Researches filings for products and provides advice to underwriters on when filings may be used.
Decision-Making Authority/Accountability Level:
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate complexity. Exercises discretion and independent judgment within limited authority level and is capable of analyzing routine information requests. This job has limited decision making authority.
Minimum Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
Basic knowledge of insurance business and aspects including underwriting, laws, and basic actuarial language. Interpersonal and written and oral communication skills are essential for completing filings, including the ability to talk with people on all levels, inside and outside of the company.
Education and Experience Preferred:
Associates plus 1-3 years of experience. College preferred.
